November-December Update

Highway 101 Crossing
There is some jute netting for erosion control placed on both the East Highway 101 and West Highway 101 construction sites, where the receiving and jacking pits have been backfilled and all work is complete.  All construction equipment has been demobilized.  The contractor has finished all project work as of November 30th, and the project will be officially closed out in December 2017 by the North Marin Water District.

Norman Tank
The contractor has ensured that work shall only take place during working hours, which are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Mon.-Fri. and if special approved is granted, 10:00AM-5:00PM on Saturday. No Saturday work is anticipated for the remainder of the project.  The vault excavation is complete, and the vault along with all necessary piping will be placed on 12/9/17.  This is the bulk of the work left for the project, leaving only site grading and miscellaneous items to be performed. The contractor will be finishing up all project work by the end of December 2017, after which the project will be officially closed by the North Marin Water District in January of 2017.

A few hours will be spent at Plum St tank (at the end of Zandra Pl).  This involves swapping out a valve for a motorized valve and this work is scheduled for mid December.  After this is complete, no more work will be performed on Zandra Pl. for this project.

Activities for the End of September to Early October

Highway 101 Crossing

The contractor is working on both the east and west of Highway 101. He will get the steel casing installed beneath the highway using a jack and bore trenchless method that utilizes a pilot tube for guidance. Once the protective casing is installed the recycled water main will be pushed into place and then tested.

No changes foreseen to their traffic control or staging areas at this time. The Project is scheduled to be complete in November of 2017.

Remeber to slow for the cone zone!

Norman Tank Project

The structural improvements are nearing completion and the Contractor has moved into the protective coatings phase. This will involve removing the existing coating with blast media, then priming and painting.

You will notice some noise during their work, and we appreciate your patience while they work as quickly as possible to finish!

Current completion of the project is the end of December 2017.

Bike Path Closure

Thankfully the weather has given us the break we needed to start the bike path work. Our plan is to close the path at 7:00AM Monday, 2/27 at which time shuttle service will start.  The locations for shuttle pickup and dropoff will be a section of the parking area on S Novato Blvd and the far east end of Entrada; see Google maps attached.  The shuttle schedule will run from 7:00AM to 11:00PM Monday, 2/27 and then from 5:00AM to 11:00PM daily for the two week closure period which is scheduled to end on 3/12.  After the full closure period, the shuttle will run weekdays from 7:30AM to 5:00PM for approximately 2 additional weeks for the path work to be completed.  During this time the path will be open after hours and on weekends.

Friday, February 17, 2017

Week of 2/20/2017

West Project:
Mainline installation will start on the South side of the bike path on Redwood Blvd. Based on the current forecast, this probably won't start until mid-late week though. A smaller crew will be working on Redwood Blvd on the North side of the bike path installing services and appurtenances.

East Project:
Potholing operations will continue near Vintage Oaks and Rowland Way. We are hopeful that mainline installation will also start near Costco and head North on Vintage Way. This is also weather dependent, but looks likely for mid-late week.

Bike Path Closure Update 2/17/2017

We need to postpone the closure of the S Novato Blvd Bike Path again due to weather. We are targeting 2/27/17 as the start of closure, but that is still weather dependent. Stay tuned as we will continue to update the blog as we get closer.

Friday, February 10, 2017

Week of 2/13/17

West Project:
Pipeline installation on Redwood Blvd is scheduled to start back up on Monday. There will be some work taking place at the base of the bike path that connects Redwood Blvd starting Tuesday or Wednesday and should last 1-2 days. The path will remain open, but there may be some brief delays. Once that is complete, operations will then shift to Redwood Blvd on the south side of the bike path and working toward S Novato Blvd.

East Project:
There will be some potholing taking place near Vintage Oaks on Monday and Tuesday. Pipeline installation will start on Wednesday near Costco and head North on Vintage way.

Bike Path Closure Update

Based on the current forecast, the bike path closure will be postponed and is scheduled to start 2/21/17. This start date is again weather dependent and we will keep you posted as we get closer to the start of work.

Thursday, February 2, 2017

2/2/17 and Week of 2/6/17

Work on the west contract has been slowed due to rain. Once there is a break in the weather, they will get back to mainline pipe installation on Redwood. Pipe will be installed to the base of the bike path that connects Redwood. For the couple of days that work is taking place in that area you should expect minor delays, but the path will remain open. Once the pipe is installed at the base of the path, we will jump ahead to the other side of the path and continue installation in the roadway along Redwood Blvd.

On the east side, there will be a small crew potholing near Vintage Oaks. Potholing will continue into next week as well. If the rain lets up, mainline installation should start later next week near Costco.

Bike Path Closure Update 2/2/2017

Based on the weather forecast for next week, the bike closure will be postponed. We are now looking at a 2 week closure starting 2/13/17. But again, that date is weather dependent. Stay tuned for more details as we get closer.

Tuesday, January 24, 2017

S Novato Bike Path Closure

There will be work starting on the bike path that runs from S Novato Blvd to Entrada Blvd along Hwy 101 starting soon. Weather permitting, the path will be closed from 2/6/2017 to 2/19/2017. There will then be a few weeks of work immediately following that will require the path to be closed only during work hours. During these times that the path is closed a shuttle service will be provided for bicyclists and pedestrians. The exact details are still being worked out and we will be sure to post them as soon as they are finalized. The purpose of this post is to give advanced notice to any people who may use the path on a regular basis.

Friday, January 20, 2017

Week of 1/23/17

The weather forecast is looking good in terms of getting back to mainline installation on Redwood Blvd towards the later part of next week. You will likely see some potholing activities on Entrada Blvd and Ignacio Blvd early to mid week as well.

On the East project, we expect to see some light construction activity such as installation of project signs, storm water pollution prevention measures, and mobilizing equipment.

Thursday, January 12, 2017

1/13/17 and Week of 1/16/17

The weather has slowed us down again. There will be some potholing taking place on Friday 1/13/17 on S Novato Blvd near Rowland Blvd. Mainline installation on Redwood Blvd may continue next week as well, but that is weather dependent. After rain storms, the off haul site needs some time to dry out. So even if the rain has stopped, that does not always mean we can get right back to work.

On the East side, you will likely see some activity starting early next week. The construction impacts will be light; mostly installation of project signs, temporary fencing, and work of that nature. Once all of the prep work is finished, the real heavy work will start near Slade park. Please stay tuned for more updates.
