Our Sincerest Thank You!

The first of four (4) Central Service Area Projects began in September of 2016 and the final project covered by this blog was completed in January of 2018. In all, over 7 miles of new recycled water pipeline was installed and an existing reservoir tank was refurbished with enhanced seismic protection.

The contractors enlisted to perform the work provided crews dedicated to the safety of the community.
New Recycled Water infrastructure will help reduce potable
water consumption by 65 million gallons per year!

We understand that construction can be an inconvenience, so we wanted to take the time to say "thank you for your patience."

Collectively, the projects under the North Bay Water Reuse Program such as these will help reduce potable water consumption by 65 million gallons per year. By providing high quality, drought-resistant water sources, the North Marin Water District aims to enhance the beauty of Novato in an environmentally smart and sustainable way!

These projects were constructed as a part of the Novato Recycled Water Expansion Program. For more information, please visit the following links:

November-December Update

Highway 101 Crossing
There is some jute netting for erosion control placed on both the East Highway 101 and West Highway 101 construction sites, where the receiving and jacking pits have been backfilled and all work is complete.  All construction equipment has been demobilized.  The contractor has finished all project work as of November 30th, and the project will be officially closed out in December 2017 by the North Marin Water District.

Norman Tank
The contractor has ensured that work shall only take place during working hours, which are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Mon.-Fri. and if special approved is granted, 10:00AM-5:00PM on Saturday. No Saturday work is anticipated for the remainder of the project.  The vault excavation is complete, and the vault along with all necessary piping will be placed on 12/9/17.  This is the bulk of the work left for the project, leaving only site grading and miscellaneous items to be performed. The contractor will be finishing up all project work by the end of December 2017, after which the project will be officially closed by the North Marin Water District in January of 2017.

A few hours will be spent at Plum St tank (at the end of Zandra Pl).  This involves swapping out a valve for a motorized valve and this work is scheduled for mid December.  After this is complete, no more work will be performed on Zandra Pl. for this project.

Activities for the End of September to Early October

Highway 101 Crossing

The contractor is working on both the east and west of Highway 101. He will get the steel casing installed beneath the highway using a jack and bore trenchless method that utilizes a pilot tube for guidance. Once the protective casing is installed the recycled water main will be pushed into place and then tested.

No changes foreseen to their traffic control or staging areas at this time. The Project is scheduled to be complete in November of 2017.

Remeber to slow for the cone zone!

Norman Tank Project

The structural improvements are nearing completion and the Contractor has moved into the protective coatings phase. This will involve removing the existing coating with blast media, then priming and painting.

You will notice some noise during their work, and we appreciate your patience while they work as quickly as possible to finish!

Current completion of the project is the end of December 2017.
